Isaiah 55:12 I
I love the passage in Isaiah 55:12 that reads, “…and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.” I have stood and watched the trees clapping, try it sometime, it is magnificent to observe such joy in God’s nature. I wanted to express this visually somehow and decided to use leaves and gesso for a beginning.
This is the first leaves clapping hands painting I attempted; I lathered the leaves with gesso and pressed them onto the canvas, expecting beautiful impressions. Didn’t turn out exactly like I had thought, but I went with it anyway. I also impressed an acorn for the oak and dogwood berries and a maple seed near each set of leaf impressions, although they really don’t show. Because it needed to be a part of the painting I wrote the passage into the gesso. This painting has bright colors and is rather obnoxious and in-your-face, but I don’t care. Painting is gesso and acrylic on canvas, 14" wide x 11" high and completed in 2010. (See Isaiah 55:12 II) $62
